As the town was repetitively surrounded by endless waves of flying baboons, Oscar with all his energy sprinted off towards the market district. The place was swarming with civilians running for their lives in order to reach their way towards the front entrance, the baboons weren’t interested in following them instead let them take off into the fields outside the barrier. Oscar couldn’t believe his surroundings, market tables were knocked down, tents have been burned to a crisp, and the haunting sound of scared people rang into the wizards ears disorientating him with sorrow.
‘What have I done’ he whispered thinking he brought along this adversity amongst the people ‘I did this, no no no I got to find them…where are those two’
A baboon sitting on top of a tent spotted the wizard rushing through the crowds looking for Edward and Tom, giving out a growl to the other baboon behind him indicating that he has found the target and took to the air proceeding to his prize. Oscar ran faster as he constantly kept a sharp eye out for the two brothers, but one of the people around him accidentally crashed into Oscar and with a hard thump he landed hard on the ground losing his consciousness. Slowly trying to keep his eyelids open he slowly crawled his way through the running crowd, people around also avoided him making sure they don’t end up falling as well. A small ball shot into another tent setting it into flames and within a split second blew up like the fireworks on celebration night pushing everyone to the ground.

Oscar tried to get to his feet but the impact of crashing into the person before left him immobilized as if the man just pushed his rib cage into his lungs, no, he still couldn’t give up he has been through worst forms of adversity and stood firm through them he won’t give up at this moment not for a aching chest pain. He slowly stood up to his feet trying to orientate himself the best he could do and limped on through the dying town district. All the people around him have gone from around a hundred to only ten people carrying supplies and pottery. Oscar assumed that Edward was looking Lilorah who may have been aiding the people within the town and that Tom would be getting the carriage in order to provide a way out of the area for Oscar’s group. He was in too much pain he couldn’t even let out a shout to call for the two brothers, instead kept on walking but stopped to here flapping behind him. It was one of the baboons holding a spear edged with a sharp jagged blade that look as if it could slice through wood as if it were butter. Oscars bag was back at the carriage, knowing he could’ve got out of the area with his magic tricks he didn’t feel any more stupider. He huffed in intimidation as the baboon slowly approached him with spear pointing at Oz. that’s when Oscar realized, if that baboon took Glinda to wherever this fortress was, he could turn himself in and let the beast take him to Glinda. It seemed far-fetched but it was probably worth a shot, he held his arms up in surrender.

‘Alright you got me, you want me I surrender no need to push any more adversity amongst these people’ he said humbly ‘this is a situation involving me and me alone so go ahead restrain me…I’m not running…I’m not running’

the baboon gave him an evil twisted laugh thinking how stupid this man is for giving himself up easily, never the less he the baboon got what he came for and approached closer to Oscar about to restrain him until a yellow light behind flashed and with a burst of light it struck the winged fiend to the ground immobilizing it, knocking it out. It was Edward with his staff. He panted as if he had to run all the way to get to Oscar. He rushed towards Oscar and reached his hand out to him offering to help him up.

‘Oh my gosh it such a relief sir, I went to check on the tent where we were but it was burned down just like every tent around this place…can you stand’ Edward said as he helped Oscar too his feet after being knocked back tot the ground by the power of his staff ‘sorry to knock you back but we have to move this place is tearing apart we can’t stay’

‘What about the others, we can’t abandon them their probably still in here trapped behind these obstacles’

‘I never said that we’ll abandon them, for goodness sake Toms already found that our carriage has been stolen…. who ever had though thankfully tossed our belongings off to lighten the load’ Edward reassured Oscar that he wasn’t going to abandon his friends and helped Oscar through the grounds of the district as tent all around them were set aflame ‘I tried to fund Lilorah I can’t find her’

‘She probably escaped with the others, look I know you care about her but we can’t elope on ourselves, we got to get through here and meet up with others, I go Finley to search around for China girl’

‘Is she safe?’ Edward asked, Oscar couldn’t find an answer he could only shrug his shoulders as an answer. As they both traversed through the burning land a sudden yell within one of the wrecks caught their ears, Oscar pointed out to where it was coming from and the both ran towards where the sound was.

‘Do you hear that? I think its Lilorah’ Oscar exclaimed as he ran. He was right it was Lilorah but she was on the ground trying to pull her out but her leg was stuck on something, a fallen log that supported one of the tents fell on her leg, trapping her. Oscar check to see if there weren’t any baboons in sight but thankfully they must have retreated thinking that everyone was dead. Edward ran to Lily and tried to lift the log with all his strength.

‘ Please don’t worry about me Ed you got to get out off here, you can’t die here just leave me’ she begged as he continued heaving the log with Oscar helping out.

‘I haven’t come this far to die and neither will you Lilorah, you are coming with us’ Edward argued back ‘I…. I love you’
The words of true love struck Lily, as she couldn’t find anything else to say to convince him to leave. She said nothing and let the two men lift the log up slowly and tossed it aside into the blaze. She was luck that her leg was all right, but the impact of the fall bruised her ankle making it hard for her to walk.

‘Can you walk, is it alright’ Oscar asked reluctantly

‘I’m fine just let me walk but…’ she said but fell grunting in pain indicating that she has indeed hurt her leg. Edward put his arms around her shoulder and helped her up supporting her stance.

‘What are we waiting for come on let’s go now!’ Edward said helping Lily move and having his staff light the way through the thick black smoke that surrounded the entire area ‘wait where’s the leader that guy Zeff’
Lilorah shook her head.

‘They took him I tried to help but they took him’ She said in pity ‘he told me to run but the baboons surrounded him and the next thing I know he was carried away by the beasts.

‘I’m sorry truly I am, but what matters is that he’s still alive’ Oscar assured Lily, as she felt so guilty not to mention mournful ‘I can’t see a thing where are those two, I hope their okay please let them live please’

Oscar was so worried but the sound of china girls voice caught his attention and without hesitation followed it from where it was coming from. Within a minute of running he finally stopped to a halt almost bumping into Finley who was holding china girl close making sure the smoke from the flames doesn’t harm her. Oscar sighed in such relief to know that his adoptive daughter is in one-piece, all safe an unharmed he patted Finley in the back in relief and gratitude.

‘Great job pal, thank you very much for keeping her safe for me’ Oscar thanked Finley as china girl pounced out of his arms and into Oscars, she reached up and gave Oz a hug in relief, Oscar feeling the child’s embrace never felt more happier then ever and held her close in happiness. Tom came behind Edward patting his back getting his attention.

‘You okay I thought you left’ Edward stammered at the sight of his big brother.

‘You know I’d never leave my brother, I did promise our parents I’d look out for you’ Tom replied back happily but in regret he told Ed ‘the carriage is gone now what’
‘We move on, we go into the forest, is it still enchanted?’ Oscar said and asked thinking that if they venture into the forest of illusion it would keep on bringing them closer to the start all over again. China girl gasped in intimidation, the countless risks of any more casualties frightened her.

‘The forest is still enchanted as we move in but it is a prime opportunity we can make our way into the graveyard it’s a short cut to lead us away from the forest of illusion into the grey forest’ Lilorah mentioned

‘Then its our best bet out of a million, the graveyard it is, is the grey forest safe?’ Oscar said having complete silence around him.

‘The grey forest is not what I’d consider safe to live in but there a less creatures that venture in there for reasons I don’t even know’ Tom murmured not knowing what awaits them. Oscar sighed and got up holding the little China doll close with Finley beside him bringing his bag out behind the rubble before taking to the air.

‘Okay then it’s the only way to get away from this place Tom lead the way’ Oscar ordered Tom who nodded in response and proceeded through the smoke with Edward lighting the way through. Oscar and China girl looked at each other before she leaned forward under Oscars chin.

‘Do you think we can get Glinda at this way?’ she asked feeling uneasy.

‘I’m not sure exactly but this is the trail we blaze through, its our only way to be sure that we can find this fortress and get Glinda out of here’ Oscar explained to her ‘I’m sorry you have to go through all of this, you should be back at emerald city.
‘Back at the palace not knowing what might have happened to you, I’m glad that were all safe, that your safe too.

‘I’m glad that your safe I wouldn’t forgive myself if anything were to happen to you, you are my little girl after all’ he said with a smile that made her pull up a grin.
‘I’m not as delicate as I look’ she said and then turned her head to see the burning town and looked away trying ignore the deceiving the view of the fallen sanctuary. The group made their way across the broken barrier, the ground around was stained with footprints from various people that evacuated, the barrier was shattered like glass fallen from a high table. Now they head back in the forest in to the direction to where it takes them on their way to the dark fortress, to where drake dwells, to where Glinda is held captive. This was their opportunity to save her no matter the cost, Oscar swore to himself and God that he will do whatever in his power to protect his family, with Finley on his side and his newly discovered companions, this fight against the dark forces for triumph will prevail. As they enter the forest once again without looking back at the disturbing site of the town they walk on into the dark depths but a lit by Edwards staff helping them see through the dark trail. Lilorah looked at Edward and smiled remembering what he said to her back at the town, she will never forget it, she pulled her turtle neck shirt by her neck in nervously trying her best to say the same thing Edward said to her, that she loved him. Tom and Finley smiled as he watched her staring at the boy and walked on pass everyone leading the way through the dark yellow brick road.
